1 cup (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 to 2 tsp. shortening
1 pint fresh strawberries, with green tops left on

Wash strawberries and drain on paper towels. It's important that the strawberries be completely dry when dipping in chocolate.
In a saucepan over low heat or in a double boiler, melt chocolate chips and shortening, stir constantly until smooth.
Use toothpicks or a bamboo skewer into the fruit and dip into the melted chocolate.
Place on waxed paper to harden.
Refrigerate for up to 24 hours before serving.
For best results, use tempered chocolate or Baker's Dipping Chocolate.
